Garth Brooks and his wife, Trisha Yearwood, embrace the whole ‘mi casa es su casa’ idea during the Thanksgiving holiday by inviting everybody to their dining room table.

The six-time Entertainer of the Year took a stool as the co-host of the day at Good Morning America to promote his recently released anthology as well as dish on all things Thanksgiving inside the Yearwood-Brooks household. Keeping the front door open to welcome all visitors who stay in Nashville during the grateful holiday, Brooks swears that guests get the best meal of their lives coming straight from the kitchen of his talented wife.

“Mrs. Yearwood does ‘misfit’ Thanksgiving,” said Brooks on Good Morning America. “It’s people in our industry that are in that town for one reason, and they either don’t have a spouse or they’re stuck there because they’re working with us and can’t go home. So Mrs. Yearwood just opens up the house, and you are a lucky person if you sit at her table. Everything she makes is fantastic.”

He also broke down the difference between the age-old festive fight over whether the side dish is called ‘stuffing’ or ‘dressing,’ but bowed down to Yearwood’s choice of the latter, in which Brooks gives a big thumbs-up (and scoop on his plate) to.

“I was raised on stuffing so I thought that’s what it was. But she’s got this thing called dressing,” the singer claimed. “Oh it’s not the same. You’re going to get smacked if you say it’s the same.”

The country icon will be sitting pretty this Thanksgiving, with a single nearing the top of the radio charts and the U.S. leg of his tour headed to its final set of shows right in his adopted hometown of Nashville.
