Granger Smith just released the music video for his current single, “Happens Like That,” featuring two special co-stars. Rather than hiring actors to come in to play the lead roles, Smith figured the video should authentically star his wife, Amber, and youngest son, River.

Written by Smith, Jordan Schmidt, Justin Wilson, Andy Albert and Florida Georgia Line’s Tyler Hubbard, “Happens Like That” is one of Smith’s most personal songs, making Amber and River the ideal co-stars.

The video, directed by TK McKamy (Florida Georgia Line’s “H.O.L.Y, Thomas Rhett’s “Die a Happy Man), includes bold scenes with a gorgeous sunset and picturesque lightning playing into the emotion of the song.

“This has been the most extensive music video I’ve done, and we’ve done a lot of them. We shot the video in a massive cornfield and a silo and it gives the video this mysterious tone,” said Smith. “TK had a vision that the imagery would be kind of like a memory and these lightning strikes make time pass through these stages of life and love. It was amazing to have my beautiful wife Amber and my son River on set. My three kids have now all made cameos in my videos.”

Smith wrote the song while out on tour with Florida Georgia Line. Realizing he had a good thing going, he called in Hubbard to add his magic touch.

By the time they were finished writing, Smith had added in details of his relationship with Amber, and the song ended up being a crystal clear reflection of how the two fell in love. He wanted the video to be the same way.

“Happens Like That” is the lead single off Smith’s forthcoming album being released this fall. He is gearing up for the album release while out on Luke Bryan’s Huntin’, Fishin’ & Lovin’ Everyday Tour. For tickets and more information, visit Smith’s website.
