“Backroad Song” singer Granger Smith is currently in the hospital after suffering multiple injuries during his concert at the Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, New Jersey Friday evening (Dec. 2).

According to a press release, Smith was standing on a monitor which gave way and sent him falling off the stage and into a metal barricade. He somehow managed to get up and complete his set although he was reportedly in excruciating pain.

Following the show, Smith visited a nearby emergency room and was later transferred and admitted to a level one trauma center in New Brunswick, NJ. Doctors say the Texas native sustained two completely separated, broken ribs and a punctured and partially collapsed lung.

According to his publicist, the latest reports on Smith’s health are looking up. He hopes to make it back home to Texas to be with his family very soon.

As a result of his injuries, all of Smith’s shows and scheduled appearances through the weekend have been canceled. Fans can stay tuned to the singer’s official website for additional information as it becomes available.
