Bad news ahead for Merle Haggard fans: the country legend has canceled all of his shows for the month of April.

Expected to share the stage with friend and fellow country icon Willie Nelson, Haggard has called off the next group of tour dates due to his continuing recovery of a bout with double pneumonia. Dates affected by this sudden change of plans will be in Oklahoma, Texas, Missouri and Kansas.

This isn’t the first time Haggard has had to cancel performances for health reasons. The country star was diagnosed with double pneumonia back in December of 2015 and has struggled with the illness ever since. While he played a few shows in February, he postponed all dates in March in order to rest and get well.

Haggard took to a statement released by his publicist to show his love for the fans who are standing by his side during this tough recovery process.

“I want to thank my fans for their prayers and well wishes,” he said. “I hope to be back on the road in May, but I’m taking it one day at a time.”

At the moment, Haggard still has shows on his schedule for May 10th and 11th with Marty Stuart. For the time being, Jamey Johnson and Ryan Bingham will fill in for the legendary country singer.
