When in doubt, look toward your significant other as a source of inspiration and you’ve got a potential hit song on your hands.

Hudson Moore was struck by a song idea while missing his lovely lady out on the road, and couldn’t dare pass up the opportunity to write it all down before the moment passed. Although his new single, “Just Wanna Love You,” started out as a melancholic longing for his wife, he flipped the script on the subject matter by devoting this romantic ode in a fun, upbeat approach.

“I was on radio tour, had been out for a couple weeks and been really missing home and missing my wife. So this melody idea just came into my head while I was at a hotel and I didn’t have a way to record it, because I always record ideas on my phone. So I called my wife from the hotel landline and was like, ‘Hey, turn on your voice memos, I have to get this idea down before I forget it.’ And so, I sang that little chorus. It was this really faint recording, but luckily it was clear enough to recognize it,” Moore recalled to Sounds Like Nashville about the making of the single.

Moore wrote the song solo and even received the stamp of approval from his wife after hearing the track full through. According to the country newcomer, “Just Wanna Love You” gets the fans moving and grooving to the pop-country beat when he performs it at shows and he thinks it all goes back to the fact that everyone has that special someone they just need to be around.

“I think it’s fun and catchy and it makes you feel good, and I feel like the message is big,” Moore explained. “Like, I feel like everyone loves somebody whether it’s your fiancé, your spouse, your dog, your best friend, your mom—it’s like everybody has that feeling at one point or another. So I just think it’s really relatable.”
