Introducing… Tucker Beathard: Part 1

"I didn’t know I could sing… I still don’t really know if I can sing, but you find your own voice and really from the beginning, I kinda knew I wanted to be an artist," Tucker tells Sounds Like Nashville.

Introducing… Tucker Beathard: Part 1

When Eric Church released the song “Homeboy” back in 2011, it was a song that hit a chord with many families across America. It chronicled a young man going through some troubles and the play on words between “come on, homeboy” and “come on home, boy.”

Church wrote the song with acclaimed songwriter Casey Beathard, who was inspired by his son. And that’s where Tucker comes in.

Introducing… Tucker Beathard.

The junior Beathard decided to pursue a career in Country music and recently released his very first EP, The Demos – Vol. 1, to Spotify.

“I didn’t know I could sing… I still don’t really know if I can sing, but you find your own voice and really from the beginning, I kinda knew I wanted to be an artist,” Tucker tells Sounds Like Nashville.

Before pursuing music full time, he had a decision to make… create music or play baseball. He decided to put down the baseball bat and pick up his guitar, write songs and he hasn’t looked back since. “It was about my senior year in high school, I could either go play baseball at MTSU or pursue music and I never really was into school very much,” he told us. “I just felt in my heart that I just wanted to go dive into music and I’m really thankful I did.”

For the budding artist, songwriting helped save his life. “The whole reason I really got into playing guitar and the whole reason I’m really here today is because of writing. I had gotten into some trouble and I was trying to find myself and went down some paths. Writing was really a great way for me to express myself. I’m not a very open guy and like talking about my feelings much, but that was a great way to let it all out.”
