Jake Owen took a bit of time off writing in the studio to enjoy a solid 18 holes with his buddy and professional golfer Jordan Spieth at the famous Pebble Beach Pro-Am tournament.

Hitting the links alongside Spieth, as well as partners Dustin Johnson and Wayne Gretzky, Owen enjoyed himself for the fourth time going around the course. Although he and Spieth didn’t come out as winners, they still enjoyed their time with one another while going for green.

“Playing in the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am is always one of my favorite weeks of the year,” Owen gushed. “I was truly honored to be partnered for a fourth time with my buddy Jordan Spieth, and to have Dustin Johnson and Wayne Gretzky in our foursome was so awesome. To be able to walk alongside those guys this week was amazing, but the most incredible part for me was having my dad as my caddie. He taught me and my twin brother how to play golf when we were little kids, so walking with him on the greens at Monterey Peninsula is something that is hard to describe and I’ll never forget.”

Spieth gave Owen his own shout-out of encouragement for keeping the competition light and fun rather than filled with pressure to take home the ultimate prize.

“He’s a great player. He’s been a lot of fun as a partner. He knows when to be kind fun, and he knows when the time to back off is. It’s been advantageous for me to have Jake as a partner here selfishly because of, kind of, his personality and his caliber as a player,” Spieth said in a press conference.

Keeping the connection between golf and country music close, Spieth has gotten up on stage with fellow country singer Wade Bowen in Texas and Owen plays his part to practice up on the tee while contributing to charity, which earned him the coveted “Arnie” award by Golf Digest.
