No matter how far he’s come in the music industry, Jake Owen will always put manners at the forefront of his character thanks to the teachings of his parents.

Owen received an upsetting message from his mother recently about boys not respecting the traditional values that used to be a common trait of folks back in the day. She expressed how frustrated she was over the whole disregard for important morals, but acknowledged that Owen would know better since she raised him up good.

Yes Mom.. Dad taught me well. Listen up little boys.

“I hope you still hold the door open for a lady.. I cannot believe how many kids ( and rude men) let the door slam right in my face. Lol. I almost snatched this one kid by the arm a minute ago and talked to him about being a gentleman! I know you would never do that. It’s one of the reasons why I love you,” Owen’s mother wrote over text.

Alongside the screenshot of the text message, Owen wrote that “Dad taught me well” and even suggested for young men to “listen up” when it comes to learning the ways of being a good person. The singer definitely proves his own politeness whenever he hangs out with his daughter, Pearl, who he treats with fairness and dignity during every bonding moment.

Owen’s current single, “I Was Jack (You Were Diane),” is playing on country radio now.
