Although Jake Owen has adopted Nashville to be his home for a few years now, it’s his native Florida that continues to draw him back to where he grew up during the holidays and this year is no different.

Heading to his hometown of Vero Beach, Florida, the country artist filmed a music video at a local high school and attended a recent golf tournament in the area during his annual trip back home for his charity concert. Just as this visit has become a tradition in Owen’s life, he has also kept his holiday traditions going year after year for the love of his family and daughter.

Like many others this season, Owen looks forward to seeing his loved ones and spending time with the people that made him who he is, growing up and even in his now adult life.

“All through my childhood, (it was) looking forward to the entire family getting together for Christmas, including my grandparents, who are in their 90s, as well as sitting on the sofa and singing songs to my mother as she decorates the tree each year,” he told The Tennessean in an email interview.

He also dished on the present that kicked off his passion for being on the water and getting into the spirit of lake season.

“When Jarrod (Owen’s twin brother) and I were 12, we opened a huge present under the tree and inside the large box were several smaller boxes to open, until finally there was a tiny box where we found a key in it. We rushed outside to find a new Boston Whaler hanging in our dock. That is when I fell in love with being on the water,” Owen revealed.

But as anyone during the holidays, Owen sticks to his strongest and most passionate tradition of giving back to those in need, noting that, “being able to give back by hosting my charity event in December and visiting the kids at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital,” are the best gifts he’s ever given.

Fans can buy Owen’s latest record, American Love, to stuff the stockings as a little Christmas present this season.
