As a female in the entertainment industry, Jana Kramer admits she’s dealt with her fair share of harassment throughout her career. Thankfully for her, she constantly held her ground and stood strong in her dignity even when times were tough.

The actress turned country singer faced the worst back at the beginning of her career in the television world, and Kramer wasn’t shocked to learn about the scandals swirling around Hollywood at the moment.

“The Harvey stuff is difficult. Unfortunately, it’s not the first case and it’s not going to be the last,” Kramer shared with Yahoo! Lifestyle.

Everything surrounding the Weinstein debacle brought up a memory Kramer repressed since she was merely a teenager. Put in a compromising position, the “Circles” singer just maintained her ground and showed great bravery by not falling into the tricks of one entertainment bigwig.

“I had a man helping me in the very beginning when I was 19, and he was like, ‘OK, I’ve done this for you. What are you going to do for me?’ And I remember in that moment being like, ‘Oh, my God! I am going to have to sleep with this man in order to fulfill my dreams.’ I ended up just bawling, crying, and having a panic attack, and he left. I called my mom and I was like, ‘I’m coming home. I’m going back to Michigan.’ And she’s like, ‘The hell you are!’ She said, ‘Don’t let a man try and take something away from you like that. Be the bigger person. Fight back,’” Kramer revealed.

Gaining confidence throughout her career, Kramer just hopes to pass on her wisdom to women everywhere so they can live happily and fight for the respect they deserve.

“I feel like women can be just brutal to each other,” said the singer. “They can really tear each other down. So to be able to empower women to have a voice, to be able to speak out and to be confident with themselves and not to have to settle for anything and feel like that’s what they deserve, is just wonderful to be a part of.”

Kramer’s latest song, “I’ve Done Love,” can be streamed digitally now.
