Jason Aldean has scored a lucky 21 with his chart-topping hit, “Drowns the Whiskey.”

The Miranda Lambert collaboration has scored the No.1 spot on the Billboard Country Airplay chart for a second week, while also claiming the peak position on the Mediabase/Country Aircheck singles chart. The occasion also marks his second consecutive multi-week No.1 from his eight studio album, Rearview Town.

Collaborating with his fellow country star is something Aldean has long-since wanted to do since first pairing up with Lambert for 2007’s “Grown Woman.” Though it took some pitches to get Lambert on board, Aldean was grateful to find a song she was just as passionate about as he was.

“I had a song in mind and I sent it to her. She was just kinda iffy on the song that I sent, and I was like, ‘Hey, if you don’t like it, it’s cool. I want you to love whatever we do.’ So, I had another song that I had in mind. I said, ‘Actually, you know, I’ve got this other thing that I’ll send you and see if you like that better.’ And so I sent he ‘Drowns the Whiskey’ and she loved that song,” Aldean previously told NASH Prep of the song written by Brandon Kinney, Jeff Middleton and Josh Thompson.

“Drowns the Whiskey” is the second single from Aldean’s latest studio album, Rearview Town.
