There’s no turning down the heat when comes to Jennifer Nettles brand new record, Playing With Fire.

The project dropped today and is a platform that allowed Nettles to say quite a bit. “When I made the last record, ‘That Girl,’ I had a five month old child and I reached out to a bunch of my buddies to come and write songs with me and we did and it was great and yet, I have found that since that time, now on my journey, I have a lot more to say on this album than I did the last in terms of personally.”

The new project is something reminiscent of Sugarland back in the day, a fact that Nettles is well aware of.

“I am the lead singer of Sugarland so I will always sound like that in some parts,” she said. “The difference is is I get to explore different parts as a solo artist or I get to extrapolate certain parts and celebrate them in certain ways. Or I get to dig deeper into certain parts that you might recognize a sound. I think, sonically overall, there is a connection but there is a reason why it sounds like that and that’s because I’m still singing.”

See what else Nettles had to say about the project that includes her current single “Unlove You” and fan favorite “Drunk In Heels.” Pick up your copy of the new album HERE.
