Jennifer Nettles on Sugarland: ‘Nobody Panic!’

Sugarland

Just days after announcing that she’s working on a solo album with famed producer Rick Rubin, Jennifer Nettles spoke out about the fate of Sugarland and her partnership with Kristian Bush.

“Not at all — Nobody panic!” she told Billboard backstage at the 2013 Billboard Music Awards when asked if they were breaking up. “We’re just taking time to do things individually, personally and professionally. And we’re super supportive of each other in what we do on both those fronts, personally and professionally.”

The singer said having the two separate outlets between being solo and being with Sugarland is the perfect compliment. “With Sugarland it’s been fun to write with Kristian, we go out and play the big shows, play the arenas,” she said. “I wanted to do something that was just different, you know? That was more intimate and more personal, more organic to me. And definitely speaks to my roots and to where I’m at right now in my life.”

Nettles also says that the solo album will still be Country, but explained that “it’s going to show a different side that I don’t always get to show.”

On top of working on the solo album, Nettles is currently working on her biggest project yet… motherhood. She recently shared a photo of her new baby, Magnus Hamilton, for Mother’s Day. Check it out HERE.
