In just a few weeks, families will gather around their televisions for the second installment of Dolly Parton’s Coat of Many Colors movie series. The sequel, entitled Dolly Parton’s Christmas of Many Colors: Circle of Love, will star Jennifer Nettles once again as Avie Lee Parton, Dolly’s mother.

While the storyline continues to follow a young Dolly Parton, this film is a bit different than the first as its set around the holiday season.

“‘Christmas of Many Colors’ furthers Dolly’s story. It furthers the story of her family and it’s set around Christmas and they’re all true stories based on her childhood,” Nettles explained to Sounds Like Nashville and other media earlier this week while backstage at the CMA Country Christmas taping. “This one is centered around a gift of the magi, somewhat that she and her brothers and her sisters and her dad got together in order to try to buy her mom a wedding ring.”

The movie doesn’t come without its ups-and-downs and fair share of drama, teased Nettles.

“There’s also in it fun nativity scene craziness at the school and there’s a near death experience in a mine and there’s a near death experience in a blizzard and it’s high drama and high laughter,” she shared.

The new film follows the wildly-successful debut film, Dolly Parton’s Coat of Many Colors, which broke records upon its debut in 2015.

“I was so overwhelmed and touched by how many people watched ‘Coat of Many Colors’ and their reaction to it,” Parton said when the sequel was announced. “The song ‘Coat of Many Colors,’ of course, has always been my favorite and has touched so many people through the years, especially me. It is a true story from a very special time in my childhood. I am so happy to share this story with the viewers and to say there is so much more to tell because mine truly has been a life of many colors. I hope the viewers will fall in love all over again.”
