When Jason Aldean asked “Will the real Joe Diffie please stand up” in his hit “1994,” he may have been asking a little too much from the iconic 90’s singer. Diffie, in real life, was suffering from tremendous back pain, resulting in surgery to correct his spinal stenosis back in March.

“It’s just incredible. I had stenosis in one of my vertebrae. They went in there, roto-rooted it and I’m good to go,” he told the Dayton Daily News recently.

“It had been bothering me for a couple of years. It wasn’t just affecting my business, my music, but it was affecting my life with my kids,” he explained. “I couldn’t get out and walk around a zoo. I couldn’t stand up for more than about five minutes without my feet going completely numb. I was in excruciating pain but I’m good to go now. I did two shows like 10 days later. It has been a real blessing we got it fixed up.”

Now that his back is all fixed-up, Diffie will continue working on new music and touring the country with upcoming dates in Nashville, TN, Daytona Beach, FL, and Lebanon, TN.
