Joey Feek Is ‘Feeling Really Good’

As Christmas nears, Jory+Rory’s Joey Feek is “feeling really good,” her husband Rory shared in a new post to his blog, This Life I Live.

In his latest update, the singer/songwriter revealed that he and Joey, who has terminal cancer and is under hospice care, have moved into a bigger house “with a little more room” with their 22-month-old daughter, Indiana. The space was “another blessing from someone in the community who just wants to help.”

“This place has a big picture window in the bedroom so Joey can look out and see white geese and black swans swimming in the pond and deer walking down the path,” he wrote. “It’s amazing.”

He said that Joey was feeling “really good” and that the medicine has helped ease her pain. “We’ve been able to keep her pain under control for the most part and her spirit is just as positive as ever. Even more so here lately.”

The Family is in the Christmas spirit, too. “My wife knows I love Christmas.  I always have.  It’s something she learned early on in our marriage about me,” he shared. “There’s a magic that’s in the air that isn’t there any other time of the year.”

This year, their celebration is even more special. Although Joey can no longer get out of bed, she is making the most of her time with Indiana. On Friday morning, Indy opened a present on her mother’s lap. It was one of 25 gifts the family received from their local Pizza place, Pizza King.

“Those nice folks had bought and wrapped 25 separate presents (they’re all different books I think) for Indiana to open…  one each day from December 1st, all the way through Christmas,” Rory described. “What a beautiful, thoughtful thing to do.”

Joey and Rory are enjoying the gifts almost as much as Indiana is. “We have a Christmas tree and some decorations up and thanks to the nice folks at Pizza King, it’s starting to feel like Christmas.  And not just any Christmas – a very special Christmas – one that we’ll never forget.”
