John Wayne Schulz Performs Keith Urban Hit on ‘American Idol’

If you’ve followed the final season of American Idol, you’d recognize John Wayne Schulz almost immediately. He’s a big, brooding man, always sporting a black cowboy hat. But last night, the singer was almost unrecognizable without his signature look.

Somehow, his “lucky hat” went missing and he spent quite a bit of time searching for it. His search came up empty-handed, and he eventually had to make his way to the stage for his solo performance of Keith Urban’s “John Cougar, John Deere, John 3:16.”

Unfortunately for Schulz, his dream of becoming the next “American Idol” ended here. He did not move on to the next round and was cut from the competition for the second time just before the Top 24 (he also appear on Idol in 2011).

Tonight, American Idol will reveal its Top 24. Who will make the cut? Find out at 8/7c on FOX.
