Josh Abbott Says ‘I Do’ During Texas Wedding Ceremony

Josh Abbott Band’s frontman is now a married man after saying “I do” on Sunday, July 8, during a romantic ceremony in Austin, TX.

Abbott wed Taylor Parnell in front of 250 guests at Brazos Hall. The two decided to exchange vows in Parnell’s hometown for a very special reason.

“Taylor was born and raised in Austin. Her grandparents are influential in her life and we didn’t want to make them travel for a destination wedding. Ultimately, the convenience and proximity of a wedding in downtown Austin was too good to pass up,” Abbott explained to PEOPLE.

The importance of family was highlighted during the processional as the couple’s 14-month-old daughter Emery Farryn acted as flower girl.

“She was one of the flower girls. She is a huge part of our life, so it was only fitting to have her about on the big day,” shared Abbott.

The couple chose to keep things light and airy for their big day, selecting relaxing tones for a tranquil but celebratory atmosphere.

“The greenery and lighting was a really important part of the theme. We wanted everyone to forget they were indoors for the night, but in the middle of a Texas summer, air conditioning is a must,” said the newlyweds. “The wedding colors were neutral and soothing…green from the arrangements and the champagne from the girls’ dresses.”

The decision to marry in July was an easy one for the couple, as many of their major milestones occur during the seventh month.

“I proposed last July. We fell in love in Cabo two years ago in July. Both of our birthdays are in July,” he explained. “So we saw this as an amazing opportunity to have our anniversary in the same month and therefore every year moving forward, we will vacation most of the month to celebrate life and love!”

The couple will soon enjoy a tropical honeymoon getaway in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

Said Abbott, “I’m ready for the honeymoon vacation! Adios!”

Abbott proposed to Parnell with the help of their daughter when he put her in a onesie that read “Mommy, will you marry Daddy?” Next to the baby was a gorgeous diamond ring, with which Abbott popped the question.
