Josh Turner Celebrates Grandmother-In-Law’s 100th Birthday

If the name Lois Cunningham seems familiar, it is probably because she joined Turner for a special spontaneous performance of “How Great Thou Art” at the Grand Ole Opry last year.

Josh Turner is well-known as a quality family man, having raised four children of his own and celebrating 14 years of marriage with his wife Jennifer. But recently, the singer returned home to help celebrate the birthday of his grandmother-in-law Lois Cunningham, who turned 100 on June 12.

Cunningham was surrounded by multiple generations of family, who were on hand to rejoice in the momentous occasion together.

“We went down there and had a big-time shindig for her,” says Turner. “We played a lot of music and ate a lot of food, good clean fun and fellowship and we had good weather for it and everything and she was feeling good, so we had a great time. She was even up there playing several songs on the piano so she’s still doing pretty good for 100.”

Turner shared a video on Twitter of Cunningham being honored with a delicious looking pink cake and a harmonious “Happy Birthday” sing-along. She even blew out all the candles on the first try!

If the name Lois Cunningham seems familiar, it’s likely because she joined Turner for a special spontaneous performance of “How Great Thou Art” at the Grand Ole Opry last year. The entire audience was moved by her beautiful piano rendition of the classic hymn, giving her a standing ovation at the end of the performance. A video of the performance quickly went viral, garnering over 10 million views, so far, on the Opry’s YouTube.

Josh Turner is currently climbing the country charts with his latest single “All About You.”
