Justin Timberlake Plotting Move to Nashville, Country Album
Superstar Justin Timberlake may soon be embracing his Tennessee roots.
During his recent Nashville tour stop, the singer revealed hopes to someday move to Music City and also record a country album.
“I spend way more time in Nashville than people realize,” Timberlake told The Tennessean before his sold-out show at Bridgestone Arena. “I admire this town a lot. They take care of their own. There’s not a lot of places in the world, much less America, that do that. It’s just a great place.”
So when can fans expect the “Take Back the Night” singer to make the move to Nashville? Timberlake says it isn’t a question of “if” but “when.”
“I think there could be a place for me here in the future for sure,” he shared. “Absolutely I will work in Nashville. That’s probably the next move for me. The next move for me is to sink some teeth in here.”
The former *NSYNC-er also stopped by SiriusXM’s The Highway to chat with host Storme Warren while he was in town. During the interview, which aired on The Highway Hot 30 LIVE, Timberlake spoke his dreams of being a country star. “They’re still alive,” the Memphis native revealed.
When Warren asked Timberlake about “Drink You Away,” a cut from part 2 of The 20/20 Experience, the singer admitted that there are several musical influences on the track. “I just did an interview earlier today and I said ‘I’m America, that’s what I am — in all sense of the word,” he explained. ” I grew up outside of Memphis, Tennessee, and I listened to country music, R&B music, classic rock… everything.”
Warren went to play the song, and before it began, Timberlake said, “Mama, I’ve made it. I’m on The Highway.”
And despite his numerous nominations at the American Music Awards, including Artist of the Year and nominations in the Pop, R&B and Soul categories, he said he’s got his eyes on another award in the future. “I still got my eyes on a ‘Best Country Album,’ he said. “There’s time for that.”
