Move over, Sam Hunt, and make way for Kane Brown as his latest single, “What Ifs,” placed him at the top of the country charts.

Brown took the reigning No. 1 title from Hunt on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart with his dynamic duet with Lauren Alaina climbing all the way to the best spot on the list. “What Ifs” even garnered a Gold certification from RIAA a while back, which left Brown in complete shock over the surprise of success.

“So whenever they presented me the gold record, I was shocked. It was just an overwhelming feeling,” Brown told Sounds Like Nashville at the surprise event.

The rocking love song, which has since gone Platinum, answers the pondering questions within making a relationship work, which Brown responds that he’d rather just take the leap in love over letting the moment drift away due to doubt and uncertainty. Matched with Alaina’s unprecedented vocals, the pair strongly represent the bravery in relationships that overpowers the pessimistic assumptions.

Brown felt proud of the song from its start on radio by calling it, “a song talking about a relationship, and everybody’s always asking, ‘What if?’  Like, ‘what if this happened,’ ‘what if that happened,’ ‘what if you find somebody else,’ and it’s my most asked-about song on my album, and I hope people enjoy it as much as I think they’re going to enjoy it.”

Previously, Hunt held the No. 1 spot on the countdown with his summer smash, “Body Like a Back Road,” for 34 weeks.

Currently, Brown continues his path to glory with the recent release of his Deluxe Edition album hitting stores and digital downloading sites. “What Ifs” and many other of Brown’s huge hits can be found on the record, which is available now.
