Oh, the classic Thanksgiving traditions. Slaving for hours in the kitchen making sure every dish is cooked to perfection just in time for a hungry bunch of loved ones to dive on in to the sweet and savory goodness surrounding the table. Top it all off with the best nap of the year and a few football games spread throughout the afternoon and it’s pretty much the perfect day.

While Thanksgiving is first and foremost about expressing gratitude, the food comes as a close second. Even country stars take a break from their hectic schedules to sit and chow down on some of their favorite comfort dishes.

Kane Brown gives his appreciation toward his grandmother and her cooking skills, especially when it comes to her thick helpings of mac and cheese.

“Well, macaroni and cheese, but then my Ma Maw makes some good salmon patties, and gravy and biscuits, so I’m super excited for that. She always makes it because she knows it’s my favorite so I usually have like my own plate waiting for me,” Brown revealed.

Carly Pearce heads straight to desserts for her Thanksgiving splurge, eyeing that sweet pumpkin pie before anyone takes the first slice.

“Pumpkin pie.  It’s my dad’s favorite, my favorite. My mom makes a seriously amazing pumpkin pie and I think that my dad and I eat it … She gets mad at us because we dabble into it before it’s probably time to and she wants it to look perfect. My mom’s very much a perfectionist and wants everything to be set and nice and my dad and I could care less.  We’ll eat it off of a plastic plate and she wants very pretty things so we always get in trouble,” laughed Pearce.

It’s all about the turkey dressing for Alan Jackson and his family at home as they gobble up the side stuffing made with cornbread and love.

“My favorite Thanksgiving dish would be the homemade dressin’ that we, cornbread-based kind of dressin’ that we always have with turkey,” Jackson gushed. “That recipe is a kind of a combination of my mama, and Denise has taken it and perfected it over the years, so that me and my children really enjoy it.”

Trisha Yearwood also makes her way toward a similar dressing style like Jackson’s, but the recipe holds true to her heart for its lack of a lot of spices and a love passed on through the generations before her time.

“I’d mentioned my grandma’s cornbread dressing – everybody’s dressing is very particular to their family, and mine doesn’t have sage in it; it doesn’t have that flavor,” Yearwood explained. “I’m not a big sage fan. So it’s like, just a basic, and it has a lot of bread in it. It has cornbread and bread crumbs and saltine crackers, and then you use the stock from the turkey, so it’s just…it’s my favorite thing. And because it’s really a traditional Thanksgiving dish, you don’t have it all the time. And so I really do miss that, and I’ve been known to make her dressing in the summer, just ’cause I’m like, ‘I need some dressing; I can’t wait ‘til November.’”

As a man with a big appetite, Sam Hunt made his plan of attack by stealing all of his favorites on the first round of food before everyone picked and plucked from the bowls around the house. He kept the turkey trifecta on lock, scouting out the meat, dressing and dessert while on the prowl.

“When I pile my plate up, it’s mostly turkey and then I’ll put a little dressing on the side, and I’ll usually go ahead and grab my dessert on the first run [laughs] and have it ready before it all disappears. Those are the really the three things,” Hunt spilled about his necessities.
