The 2017 BMI Country Awards celebrated the best in songwriting on Tuesday, Nov. 7 when members of the music rights management organization gathered together. Among the top honorees were Keith Urban, who was presented with the BMI Champion Award, and Bob DiPiero, who earned the BMI Icon Award.

Urban earned the Champion Award for his unyielding support for the next generation of songwriters and musicians. Maren Morris was on hand to perform for the legend with the Nashville School of the Arts choir, who performed with URBAN Guitars donated to the school.

Brooks & Dunn rocked the house with “You Can’t Take The Honky Tonk Out of The Girl,” Reba crooned “Till You Love Me” and Jon Pardi nailed it with “Daddy’s Money.”

Ahead of the big night, Sounds Like Nashville caught up with many of the BMI writers, including Dustin Lynch, Lindsay Ell, Chris Young, Brett Eldredge, Dan + Shay, Chase Bryant and many others as they walked the red carpet. See what went down in the video above.
