After wrapping up the American leg of his Ripcord Tour in New York this past weekend, Keith Urban is jet-setting his sights on the place he calls home to bring his show to fans down under: Australia and New Zealand.

The country star is planning on making the most out of his visits with nine dates planned in various cities across the two countries. As a native to New Zealand originally, Urban is thrilled to be able to perform for the Kiwi nation for the first time in his lengthy career.

“I just can’t believe it’s taken us this long to play there! I was born there and I’ve never played in New Zealand before, so it’s gonna be a phenomenal feeling,” he said to Sounds Like Nashville and other media outlets during a recent No. 1 party.

With some of the devastation that’s happening over there due to the massive earthquakes shocking the nation, Urban also plans to give back in some way while he and his crew are over there performing.

“It will, in the sense of if there’s anything we can do to help. Definitely, we are up for that. I know that the venue were playing at wasn’t specifically damaged, but it did experience some kind of issues that they’ve got to address before we come over and play,” Urban told the media in response to how he will contribute in their recovery.

Urban anticipates Carrie Underwood to make a huge splash with the fans abroad while on tour. Their duet, “The Fighter,” will definitely be on the setlist, according to Urban, and he expects that their fans down under will have a pretty big reaction to the song.

“I love that we’ve toured together before, but we’ve never had a song together to do,” he explained. “So it’s great that we get to do ‘The Fighter.’ Actually, it was released as a single in Australia a while back and was a hit down there, so people will know that song. It’s all an organic thing about us going down together at the same time, do it together. We wouldn’t be doing it had we not have had the song with ‘The Fighter’ as well.”

Urban and Underwood’s first show “down under” takes place December 3 in Wellington, New Zealand.
