Urban even added the familiar sound of Merle Haggard's "Mama Tried" into the music mix.

As a traveling musician on the road more often than not, Keith Urban appreciates the wave of comfort as described in his latest release, “Coming Home.”

The song shows Urban’s love of going back to the place that made him into the man he is today. Whether that be thousands of miles away in his native Australia or on the front porch of his house with Nicole Kidman and their girls, the singer revels in the relaxing notion of being in that safe place.

Adding a bit of writing and pop flair from Julia Michaels, the two praise the calmness of returning to where you belong after fighting the chaos of unknown faces and unexpected city antics. While a phone call may suffice for some, it doesn’t beat the magic of touching down in the homeland.

Listeners may hear a specific bit of Merle Haggard’s influence within the melody of the track, as Urban sampled a bit of “Mama Tried” for the ultimate country standard mix. Of course, the Australian only did so with the late singer’s family’s blessing and they seemed excited to have the legend be a part of such an important single.

“Hearing that rolling Haggard guitar lick sparked memories of my childhood – and my dream to come to America.” Urban said of the song.  “I knew right then the story (of the song) was about the struggles of being in a city where your dreams have brought you, but far from your home –  wherever, whomever and whatever that is for each of us.”

So far, Urban continues to show fans what his forthcoming album will sound like through releases such as “Coming Home,” “Female” and “Parallel Line.” He’ll show even more on the Graffiti U Tour this summer.

“Coming Home” will be a part of Urban’s upcoming record, Graffiti U, which will release sometime this year.
