When Keith Urban released his latest album, Ripcord, it represented a whole new chapter for him in his country music career by defining dimensions to his sound that fans had never quite heard before. But with every project, it still takes an army.

In a recently released Facebook video, Urban took fans behind-the-scenes on the making of the album and showed what it’s like when he hits the studio to work on upcoming music. While working on his eighth studio album, the “Blue Ain’t Your Color” singer strived to create a sense of closeness with each track to meld fans into the mix of what he was feeling as he recorded.

“I wanted the album to feel a certain way and make me feel a certain way when I heard it. I want to be able to feel like I can access the song, like it’s right here, right in front of me bristling and it’s alive,” he said in the clip.

Featuring a variety of different sounds from the bluesy hook on “Blue Ain’t Your Color” to the dynamic duo power on “The Fighter,” his duet with Carrie Underwood, Urban captured the strong emotions throughout every individual track to find a wholesome theme throughout the entire record.

“I think the songs were all stand-alone, strong pieces. But as I started to try and make a cohesive record, I had to pick and choose. I found that really hard to do,” he admitted.
