The Nashville Predators have been surprising fans with A-list country stars to help pump up the fans and athletes for incredible performances of the National Anthem ahead of the post-season games. On Tuesday night (5/16), Keith Urban stepped into the rink to perform the iconic tune for the very first time.

“I’ve lived in America 25 years. I’ve never been asked to sing the National Anthem. It was such an honor to do it here in Nashville for the Preds,” Urban told NHL’s Jon Morosi after his performance. “It’s a nerve-wracking experience but above all, it’s a huge honor. For me, from all the years I’ve lived here, one of the proudest moments ever in my life.”

The singer later posted a video with his wife Nicole Kidman from the box, thanking the team for asking him to perform.

Kidman was equally thrilled for her husband of nearly 11 years, posting a photo of the guitar-slinger rocking a navy and gold Predators jersey donning his surname.

The couple has been thrilled to support the team during their years of living in town, but between the two, the actress  turns out to be the bigger hockey fan.

“I think Nic. Nic, for sure. She’s the one getting us down to the games. I mean, I’m always ready to get in the car too, but she’s ready to go,” Urban shared.

The Nashville Predators will take on the Anaheim Ducks in Bridgestone Arena for Game 4 on Thursday, May 17. The Music City-based team leads the current series 2-1. Re-live Urban’s stunning performance of the Star-Spangled Banner HERE.
