The 75th annual Golden Globes took over Hollywood Sunday night (Jan. 7) when the best and brightest in television and film hit the red carpet for the banquet. The night was filled with messages about Time’s Up, a movement against sexual harassment in response to the Harvey Weinsten scandal, among others, and #MeToo, while also celebrating the creative features released throughout the past year.

Though everyone wore black in solidarity for the movement, the night was anything but somber. Among those having a great evening was Kelly Clarkson, who was on hand to present an award during the evening.

Clarkson kicked off her big night out with an interview with E! red carpet correspondent Ryan Seacrest. As the duo’s chat concluded, Clarkson turned around and made eye contact with actress and nominee Meryl Streep, nearly losing her footing on the stairs. Seacrest held on tight to the “Love So Soft” singer’s arm as she yelled to Streep, “Can I meet you?” Her meeting with the acclaimed actress was short, but sweet, as the two exchanged pleasantries and Streep cradled her face.

“Like, she’s my spirit animal,” Clarkson later told Access Hollywood, adding that she couldn’t recall any of their conversation. “I should have spoken more about the solidarity part of tonight and I think I was just like, ‘you’re awesome,’ and she kept trying to talk about that. I was like ‘yeah, of course, I’m gonna keep it professional.”

Clarkson’s night was far from over after that. In addition to presenting the award for Best Original Film Song with Keith Urban, she also had the opportunity to meet The Office star Steve Carell. The moment has been long overdue since Carell appeared in The 40 Year Old Virgin in 2005. During a scene in the movie where Carell’s character Andy Stitzer is getting his chest and back waxed, he cries out Clarkson’s name in pain.

The Texas native told TODAY in November that she found the moment  “pretty hilarious,” and felt “gypped” that they hadn’t had the chance to meet yet.

Their paths finally crossed at the Globes with Carell posting a photo of the two, captioning “Finally,” with Clarkson calling it “one of my favorite moments of my life.”

Kelly Clarkson will continue to live on cloud 9 as she readies herself for a new gig… coach on season 14 of NBC’s The Voice. She’ll appear alongside Blake Shelton, Adam Levine and Alicia Keys when the season premieres February 26 on NBC after the Winter Olympics.
