Since adopting her precious daughter Haley Joy, TODAY’s Hoda Kotb has fully embraced her motherly role. The talk show host has enjoyed motherhood so immensely that she’s even penned a children’s book, I’ve Loved You Since Forever.

Written after her daughter’s adoption, the book celebrates the love between parent and child. The sentiment that fills the pages was captured in illustrations by Suzie Mason and in a song of the same name by Kelly Clarkson.

“Before birds flew over rainbows and monkeys swung on trees, there was you and there was me,” The Voice coach sings in the music video. “Before the sun set in the sky and honey came from bees, there was you and there was me.”

“Waiting for the day our paths would cross and you and I turned into we. Oh, I’ve loved you since forever and forever’s how long you’ll be loved by me,” it continues.

Kotb praised Clarkson, who is also the mother to four children (two of her own and two older from her husband), for her work on the song.

“My heart exploded,” she revealed to PEOPLE of her first listen. “Kelly is an unbelievable human being. She changed my life. This song is now part of our family history. It’s amazing that she did that for Haley and for me and for anyone that listens to it and feels like the song is about them.”

Clarkson hopes, too, that families worldwide are able to connect with the soothing tune.

“I made it more like a lullaby, like James Taylor, like there’s kind of some Patty Griffin in it,” she explained to Hoda. “I hope we do it justice.”

Those interested in downloading the song can pick it up at today.com, amazon.com/hodakelly or on iTunes. All of NBC/Universal’s profits will go to HelpUsAdopt.org, an organization that helps relieve the financial obstacles that come with adoption.

Hoda Kotb’s book, I’ve Loved You Since Forever, is available everywhere now.
