Kelsea Ballerini Gives CMA Date, Allie Allen, A Night To Remember

Kelsea Ballerini walked the CMA Awards red carpet with a very special guest this year, Allie Allen.

Allen was diagnosed with brain cancer two years ago and has been fighting the disease St. Jude Children’s Hospital since.

Today, Allen appeared on the TODAY Show, to talk about her CMA experience and take part in their “Thanks and Giving” series, where they share stories of some of St. Jude’s toughest patients.

The two became friends when Kelsea mistook Allie for another musician while visiting the hospital earlier this year. “I’m kind of prying to figure out what she sings and all of a sudden she’s like ‘Yeah, I’m almost done with radiation for my brain tumor’ and I was like, ‘Oh, you’re a patient. I had no idea,'” Kelsea told the morning show in a pre-taped clip.

The two clicked immediately and a special friendship blossomed. The “Dibs” singer decided to invite the 17-year-old to the CMAs as her date. “I was not expecting that at all,” Allen shared. “So I just started crying out of happiness.”

But being there wasn’t the only surprise… Allen was also given the star treatment by Kelsea’s team who provided makeup and styling.

“This is amazing,” Allie said while walking carpet. “It’s nothing I’ve ever experienced before. I feel super girly and glammed, I’m so happy.”
