With a mix between a busy tour schedule and a loaded to-do list when she hits the studio, it seems like it would be impossible for Kelsea Ballerini to maintain a healthy balance for her body. But through trial and error, the country singer finally found the ultimate routine to stick to in order to keep in good shape.

Ballerini takes a more low-key approach to health and fitness than some gym rats, and she doesn’t ever throw herself off balance if she needs to take a day for herself to rest when life gets a tad hectic. Allowing her body to speak for itself when it comes to training, Ballerini realized needs to take care of herself as much as possible to make sure her vocal game is on point at all times.

“Ever since I started traveling a lot, I learned that if I don’t take care of my body, then I’m not going to be my best on tour or in the studio. When I take care of myself, I’m just better: I’m better as an artist and a person,” Ballerini told The Cut for their wellness series.

Sticking to a lean breakfast complete with a veggie scramble and coffee on the go, Ballerini also switches up her fitness regimes depending on the time she pencils in for her workouts. Whether it be alongside a trainer or heading to a specialty class, Ballerini keeps her focus on breaking a sweat and toning it up.

“I have a trainer when I’m home in Nashville. Her name is Erin Oprea and she also trains Carrie Underwood and a bunch of other people. We do a lot of strength training and then when I’m on the road, we do circuits — sometimes with my band — or we’ll go to a class that’s close by, like if there’s a Soul Cycle we’ll go offsite to do that, which is really fun,” explained Ballerini.

The “Legends” singer also watches what she eats within reason—she’s a self-admitted lover of Chick-Fil-A and red wine, but she tries to make fresh dishes even on the road.

At the end of the day, it’s a judgement-free zone for Ballerini when it comes to her health because she just wants to make sure she remains happy and healthy.

“You have to find what works for you and not compare your health or your workouts or your eating patterns to anyone else’s, because everyone is different and everyone’s bodies are different,” she said. “Learn what works for you, and be happy with that.”

Ballerini will continue her routines while her life starts heading toward fast-forward with the release of her sophomore album, Unapologetically, hitting stores on November 3.
