Kelsea Ballerini has always been open and honest with her fans when it comes to her music and is continuing to do so by recently revealing the surprising muse for her latest single “Yeah Boy.” While the bubbly tune has people thinking it might be about a crush or past relationship, the singer explained that love had nothing to do with it.

“I went into this write and I had that commercial … in my head,” she told Tige and Daniel of her writing session with Forest Glen Whitehead and Keesy Timmer during a segment called the Tiny Couch Interview. “We spent like 30 minutes Googling this commercial and it’s a Super Bowl commercial for Doritos. And Flavor Flav is the ‘Yeah boy!’”

The commercial inspired Ballerini so much that she and her co-writers turned it into another smash hit, much like the first three No.1 singles from her debut album The First Time, “Love Me Like You Mean It,” “Dibs,” and “Peter Pan.”

While the inspiration for the upbeat tune may have fans scratching their heads, there’s no denying they’re ‘digging what she’s doing’ with the infectious song as it’s currently sitting in the Top 5 at country radio. Could Kelsea Ballerini have a fourth No.1 on her hands? “Yeah Boy,” she could!
