Our sincere thoughts and prayers go out to the family of CMA nominee Kelsea Ballerini. The Knoxville, Tennessee native, who recently made news with her third consecutive number one single, “Peter Pan,” lost both of her grandparents within two days of each other.

On October 20, the Black River recording artist shared with her fans via Instagram, “It was an emotional day yesterday losing my grandpa, but an honor to stand on stage with his last name and do what I love knowing he had the best seat in the house. Me and my family appreciate the thoughts and prayers.”

Then, the very next day, the singer-songwriter took to Instagram again saying “Grandma joined grandad in heaven this morning. Married 62 years and only lived without each other 39 hours. That’s the kind of love we can all only pray to find and keep. Bittersweet few days losing them both, but smiling knowing they are together continuing their love story. Again, thank you for the thoughts and prayers to my family. Especially my daddy.”

It’s a sad story, beyond the shadow of a doubt. But, at the same time, perhaps a testament to the kind of true love that we wear about in love songs? Perhaps.

Ballerini will return to the road on November 9 in Chicago, and will play her hometown with a November 11 date at the Tennessee Theatre in Knoxville. The 23-year old songstress has just released “Yeah Boy” as her fourth single from her debut album The First Time.
