It’s been a year since Kenny Chesney stepped into a football stadium, but that’s all about to change.

The eight-time Entertainer of the Year, who initially planned to take 2017 off, is preparing to hit the stage at Gillette Stadium this weekend for back-to-back concerts. As the showtime nears, the Tennessee native says he’s just as anxious to get the party going as his fans.

“Because I know No Shoes Nation is gearing up for this as much as we are,” Chesney said during rehearsals. “I am standing on this T, looking out at the empty Gillette Stadium and hearing all the cheers from last year echo in my head.”

The city holds a special place in the singer’s heart as it’s place where he feels a special connection to his fans, a group that’s been deemed “No Shoes Nation.”

“I’ve always said: I want everyone to be able to come rock with us who wants to be part of the fun, of the music, of the moment,” Chesney shared. “To me, it’s about what we all share together when me and the guys are up on that stage. It’s the music, the people, the emotions. It’s been something we’ve been sharing in Boston since long before we played Gillette for the first time in 2005 – and I think it’s the reason No Shoes Nation got named there, and has a flag waving in the end zone just like all the Superbowl pennants!”

Joining Chesney at his two shows at Gillette Stadium are Thomas Rhett, Old Dominion, and Midland. After playing to 121,399 fans over two nights in 2016, “the man from Tennessee” is more than ready to rock.

“It’s been a year, and I am so ready,” he exclaimed. “Whoever you are, if you’ve got tickets, come ready to feel this music, to rock hard and have more fun than you’ve had all summer. We’ve saved up all year for this; and the band and I are bringing everything we’ve got! I can’t wait… and it’s now only a matter of hours, not days and weeks!”

Fans who didn’t get a chance to see the superstar live in 2017 will be able to get their fix of his live shows with the upcoming release of Live in No Shoes Nation, featuring 30 tracks recorded at Chesney’s live shows over the past decade. The new live album, which will feature a number of special guests, including Taylor Swift and Eric Church, drops October 27.
