Rather than take the typical music video route of dreaming up a treatment and going through the filming process, Kenny Chesney decided to put it in the hands of some fans.

There’s a catch, though: Chesney isn’t just searching for any random submission, but rather seeking out the young people going off to college to turn “All the Pretty Girls” into a nostalgic piece of their life.

“The best moments of being young and having fun should be captured,” said Chesney recently. “But nobody ever talks to the people who are right in the moment of living it about this kind of thing. Rather than look back, we oughta just go to the people living it.”

Inspired by his time away at college, the country star even plans to give a sort of incentive that encourages the students to further their education. Chesney decided to turn the project into a special scholarship for Belmont University and Middle Tennessee State University students to get their break in the music industry.

“I remember driving over the state line to West Virginia, playing in a restaurant, breaking down, driving back and parking in the music store lot, so I could turn in the sound system and get to class,” Chesney said. “When you have a dream, you’ll do whatever it takes. I’d like to bring some college students a little bit closer than I got… and I can’t wait to see the creativity everyone brings to this song.”

The winner of the scholarship will not only receive $5000 toward their college tuition, but also the opportunity to have their music video aired live on CMT once it is selected by a board of CMT, Sony and Chesney team executives.

Belmont and MTSU students can enter the “All the Pretty Girls” contest by July 23 by entering online.
