Kenny Chesney brought the spirit of inclusion to the Academy of Country Music Awards on April 15 in Las Vegas with the television debut of his new single, “Get Along.” Donning his signature cowboy hat, a tank and jeans, the four-time ACM Entertainer of the Year kicked off the first performance of the evening.

Showcasing just why he’s one of country music’s most in-demand live acts, Chesney’s engaging performance had artists like Dan + Shay and Lauren Alaina dancing along in the audience. Singing on a stage setup in the middle of the MGM Grand Garden Arena, Chesney had the audience on its feet as he performed his new single.

A song about treating people with kindness and respect, Chesney said he knew he had to record the song the moment he first heard it and there was no better place to make its live debut than at the 53rd ACM Awards.

“For a song that says so much, it feels so good,” Chesney says. “When I heard it, it said so many things about how I wish people would treat each other, how we should be to each other. And that pocket feels so good. It just picks you up and literally moves you along.”

He adds, “It’s the kind of song when people hear it, they respond. I can’t think of a better place to play it, and I know it’s going to be a big part of my summer tour, too.”

At the close of his performance, Chesney thanked the ACM for having him and promised he’d be seeing country fans soon.

“I love you guys! Thanks for having us. See you this summer,” he said from the stage.

The 53rd Annual ACM Awards were hosted by Reba, and aired live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
