Kenny Chesney is the master of summer hits. He could pop out a fun beach tune or a rocking, vibrant anthem and it would go on every country fan’s summer playlist either way. It is even better when the song focuses on a universal subject that someone can relate to at just about any age, which is exactly what his new single, “All the Pretty Girls,” does.

“All the Pretty Girls,” written by Nicolle Galyon, Tommy Lee James and Josh Osborne, is the fourth single off Chesney’s Cosmic Hallelujah album. Chesney knew that the song was perfect for him the moment he first listened to it.

“When I first heard this song I knew it was me. I knew that the beauty of it was that so many different age groups can feel that angst in the song, and hear those lines in the song and go, oh my god that’s me and my buddies cause we all got in trouble, we all had our parents tell us what to do. We had the sheriff tell us what to do. We had the preacher tell us what to do. We had everybody telling us what to do, but all we ever heard is what the pretty girl said.”

The song wastes no time, opening with an upbeat guitar riff nostalgic of the heartland rock hits of the 80s. Chesney recalls the struggles of being an adolescent boy who cannot focus on anything except impressing the “pretty girls.”

He narrates the age of rebellion with lyrics like, “All the sheriffs said kid you better slow down / All the preachers said it’s the devil’s playground / I wonder if they knew they were wasting their breath / All I ever heard was all the pretty girls said.” The subjects of the song could be in high school, college, or even someone older just trying to figure out where to go in life. By the end, the energy has not let up one bit, leaving fans wanting another three minutes of the rocking tune.

While the song tells the story of some questionable teenage decisions, it will not be a questionable decision to jam to “All the Pretty Girls” on repeat all summer long!
