Get well soon, Kenny Rogers! The country icon has canceled his tour dates for the remainder of the year.

FOX Carolina posted the news after Rogers canceled his Harrah’s Cherokee Casino Resort performance, scheduled for May 26. It was revealed that his doctor advised him to cancel all of his 2018 tour dates. According to the venue, Rogers has been working through “a series of health challenges,” but that doctors expect a positive outcome.

“I didn’t want to take forever to retire,” Rogers said in a statement (quote via FOX Carolina). “I’ve thoroughly enjoyed this opportunity to say farewell to the fans over the course of the past two years on ‘The Gambler’s Last Deal’ tour. I could never properly thank them for the encouragement and support they’ve given me throughout my career and the happiness I’ve experienced as a result of that.”

Rogers announced in 2017 that he’d be ending his time on the road in order to spend more time at home with his wife and twin sons. Among one of his first plans upon retirement, the singer said, was to move into a smaller house.

“We’re thinking about right now… we have a huge house and it’s hard for me to get around. We’re thinking about selling our house and buying a smaller house on a larger piece of property so the boys can go outside,” Rogers told Sounds Like Nashville and other media after his Music City Walk of Fame ceremony.

Fans can expect a refund for Rogers’ tour dates through their point of purchase.
