Country hitmaker Kip Moore recently spent time traveling the world between Hawaii, Costa Rica and several other destinations during a three-month vacation period. While much of his time was spent away from the spotlight, the singer did chronicle some of his adventures with photos and videos posted to Instagram.

While part of his trip featured an unwelcome tarantula that kept returning to their bungalow, the stand-out moment for the Georgia native was something that wasn’t captured on tape.

“When I was a little kid we had encyclopedias and I was fascinated with snakes at an early age, I was fascinated by them, scared of them but I was fascinated by them. I remember looking at the Bushmaster over and over, that and the King Cobra. The Bushmaster is one of the most poisonous snakes in the world,” Moore told Sounds Like Nashville and other media recently to preface his story.

This random knowledge of the snake came in handy one night when he was heading to bed for his final night in Costa Rica, and he came face to face with one.

“I got to the foot of my door to go in my bedroom and there was a bushmaster snake right there, about an eight, nine footer,” he shared. “That freaked me out a little bit, I’m going to be honest with you because I know how toxic those things are. I just tried to kind of scoot him out and got him out into the brush and let him go back to his home.”

Thankfully, both Moore and the Bushmaster snake were able to pass in the night and move on from their (way too) close encounter.

This also isn’t the first time a country star has come across a reptile while on vacation. Just two months ago, Brett Eldredge had an unwelcome guest slither into his room via the toilet and cause a ruckus. Eldredge and his buddies were able to wrangle the snake and carry it outside where they released it back into the wild.
