Though both members of Sugarland are working on solo projects, they are both eager to put rumors of a breakup to rest. Kristian Bush talked with CMT Hot 20 Countdown recently to clear up any uncertainty fans have about the duo.

“I love that people are interested. It’s one of my favorite things,” Bush says. “They’re like, ‘Are y’all finished?’ … I’m like ‘Oh my gosh, no.'”

“This time that we’ve had where she’s been having a baby… It’s the kind of time that you usually don’t get in a career at this point, and I’m just so grateful for it,” Bush adds.

Bush also said duo partner Jennifer Nettles is like family and they couldn’t be more excited to support each other. “Oh my God, Jennifer is putting a record out. I couldn’t be anything except her biggest fan,” Bush explains. “We’ve been playing together for years.”

As for when they’ll get back together, Bush says it’s a just a matter of time. In the meanwhile, he’ll keep doing what he does best. “I’ve been making music for 20 years. I mean, before I had Sugarland, I had another record deal with another band, so this is just what I do when I wake up in the morning, and it will be what I do when I wake up in the morning tomorrow. Jennifer [Nettles] and I will get back to it as soon as we get back to it.”

Nettles also spoke out about the future of Sugarland last month with Billboard. “Not at all — Nobody panic!” she told the magazine backstage at the 2013 Billboard Music Awards. “We’re just taking time to do things individually, personally and professionally. And we’re super supportive of each other in what we do on both those fronts, personally and professionally.”

Bush has been spending his time songwriting and working with a number of new artists in the studio. Nettles is currently working on a solo album and promoting the project’s lead single, “That Girl.”
