When you have three members in a wildly-successful country music group, there are a lot of moving parts, especially when all three of those members are married with children. Imagine planning a tour and having to consider your spouses and all kids aged three or younger in the mix. It’s bound to be complicated, right? Well, the challenge is nothing but a means to massive reward for GRAMMY-winning group Lady Antebellum, who will soon embark on an international tour in May.

“We did a tour to Europe when Eisele was a little over a year old, and it was the longest we were ever away. I swore I would never do it again. Before we even left I said, ‘I’m never doing this again and her not be with us.’ The way that our household is planning is that she’ll be with us pretty much everywhere,” shared Hillary Scott during a recent press conference. “I’m envisioning going to South Africa and getting, on an off day, going on safari and I’m like, ‘She can’t be there.’ She’s obsessed with Simba. She loves Madagascar and all of these movies that she sees these animals in and so I was raised that way. I, for along time, got to travel with my parents and so I want to give her that. Those are memories that are really precious to me.”

The feeling is mutual for Scott’s bandmate Charles Kelley, who plans on having his wife Cassie and 1-year-old son Ward along for the tour.

“It’s fun to have that kind of home life, it’s such a different thing. I remember right before we go on stage you’re bathing your baby and putting him down to bed,” added Kelley. “Then you have to flip that switch and an hour later jump on stage and try to be a rock star, and it’s like, ‘That’s really weird.’”

Dave Haywood’s family will also be along for much of the You Look Good World Tour, although they may miss out on the international part.

“All the North America stuff is pretty well mapped out. We spent a lot of time to make that pretty manageable, weekend kind of runs like a lot of people in this industry do,” said Haywood. “The international stuff will be tough. I’ll probably be away from wife and son just because my wife works and figuring out Europe and South Africa’s just a lot with flights for him. He doesn’t do so well on the airplane so that’s a little tough for a 12-hour flight but we try to build in a great schedule for that reason.”

The most important thing for all parties involved is providing their children with loving environment to grow up in and allow them to socialize as much as possible.

“We try to make it manageable and it’s just fun to watch the kids play together now. It’s a really neat phase and I can’t wait to be out there on these weekends and watch all three of them. This will be just a new phase where they’re really kind of starting to play together,” added Haywood.

“I’ll never forget, it was after … Was it after Florida? It was, it was after Florida when we got to L.A. and Eisele and Cash saw each other and Eisele ran over to him and goes, “Cash, I’ve missed you.” It’s just so sweet to see their friendship really start to grow,” concluded Scott.

Lady Antebellum’s You Look Good World Tour, presented by Nabisco, kicks off on May 26 in Bakersfield, CA.
