Rather than opt for a traditional affair with fancy drinks and formal speeches, the country singer honored her hit, “Road Less Traveled,” by making all of her special guests in attendance sport their hottest one-piece sweatsuits.

There’s a first time for everything, even for Lauren Alaina, who decided to celebrate her first-ever career No. 1 with the first-ever “Number Onesies Party” on Wednesday (5/24).

Rather than opt for a traditional affair with fancy drinks and formal speeches, the country singer honored her hit, “Road Less Traveled,” by making all of her special guests in attendance sport their hottest one-piece sweatsuits. A crowd of faux Frankensteins and superheroes and everything in between, courtesy of Tipsy Elves, gave credit to the lady of the hour, who donned a customized blue-and-silver sequined onesie with the song title down the leg.

“Apparently, I’m a fan of making adults do things that only kids do like wear onesies and ride down a Slip-n-Slide in my backyard. But what did I do? I bought myself something. What did I buy myself? Oh, I got a goat onesie. I’m so stupid! Some people go out and buy Chanel. I’m like, ‘I got a onesie online!’ I’ve been celebrating ever since we found out. Just in small ways—going out with my friends, hanging out with people, being home with the people I love. I just can’t believe it. I’ve cried a lot, too. I’ve celebrated in a lot of ways,” Alaina admitted to Sounds Like Nashville and other media during an interview at the party.

Climbing to the top of the charts thanks to its optimistic message over an up-tempo beat, Alaina and her co-writers Jesse Frasure and Meghan Trainor, felt overjoyed to know their personal track resonated with listeners through radio and it validated the five years of dedication Alaina put into her most recent release. With a poignant theme even more close to home, “Road Less Traveled” represented the battle Alaina faced in her own life and she’s grateful it’s carrying on into the hearts of fans and listeners.

“It’s a scary thing because I talked about something that is super hard, that was hard for me to get through, now people will share that with me and at first, I was really scared and didn’t know what to say,” Alaina explained. “But it makes me really proud that I spoke out because there are way more people than I thought going through that. I thought I was super alone when I was dealing with that and that’s not the case. So, I’m glad I spoke out about it.”

Nevertheless, Alaina persisted through it all to earn her top honor even though she remains in disbelief over her accomplishments.

“It was really weird for me, like this party kinda made me realize, ‘Oh my goodness, I got a No. 1 song.’ ‘Cause I get to celebrate it with all of the people, like Jesse’s here and he’s been super influential for me period. As a songwriter and he’s a good friend of mine, so it’s crazy and exciting that my first No. 1 is with him. It’s so crazy that this is a No. 1 party of a song that I wrote. I don’t know, it’s crazy,” she said.

Alaina lived it up in her onesie and even got the shock of her life as Trainor showed up to surprise the country artist, clad in a black onesie herself. Some of Alaina’s closest friends and family created a video montage of all their congratulatory words before she took the stage to thank the people that have stood behind her for the past five years.

Next up for Alaina: the release of her second single off her album, Road Less Traveled, called “Doin’ Fine.” Fans can find it on her most recent record to listen now.
