It’s been five years in the making, but after dealing with the worst of trying times, Lauren Alaina is ‘Doin’ Fine’ when it comes to her new music.

While stopping by Good Morning America on Tuesday (Jan. 31), the country cutie chatted with host Robin Roberts about her past struggles with an eating disorder and how she finally overcame the body issues she dealt with before she made her name on American Idol. Admitting that she was merely a teenager when her battle began, she’s grown into a stronger and healthier self throughout her musical journey.

“When I had the first album, I was 16. I was 16 on American Idol and that’s a lot of pressure and a lot of people with a lot of opinions and they’re not always nice. I had an eating disorder on the show and then it just got worse. And then I wrote this album as I got better, and you kind of hear that journey with the music that I didn’t know how to put the album out without being honest,” she admitted on the popular morning talk show.

The country star gave an update on her progress about her health, letting fans know she’s been working with a supportive team of professionals as well as sticking to the Atkins diet to maintain her lean body in a positive light.

Taking the stage after the vulnerable interview, Alaina looked ravishing in a red jumpsuit as she belted the emotional words to her track, “Doin’ Fine,” off her latest release, Road Less Traveled.

Alaina will be joining Martina McBride out on the road for the Love Unleashed Tour throughout February and March. More information about tour dates is available on her website.
