It’s been a matter of five years in between albums for Lauren Alaina and she’s used the time wisely to grow within herself to put that reflection into music.

Just 22 years young, the country star has gone through a lot over the progression of half a decade and she has taken the ‘road less traveled’ to figure out who she wanted to be, as many twenty-somethings find themselves doing. During the path to self-discovery, she realized that even though this will be her second time around to release a project, she feels as if it’s a clean slate to jumpstart this new chapter in her career.

“To have new music out and a date and a definite time it’s gonna come out, I’m just, I could not be more excited. I have put every part of me into this album. I have had a crazy few years emotionally and I wrote about all of that, and I really feel like this album is introducing me,” she explained recently.

Not only will the album feature original tracks that Alaina is proud of, it will also showcase her vulnerability to open up through the sound of her music and show fans who she’s become over the past five years emotionally.

“I have felt just about every feeling you could feel about this album,” Alaina said. “There were moments where I never thought it would come out. There were moments where I thought I could not write another song, and there were moments where it was all I was living for. I mean, like, that’s all I thought about. I woke up every morning obsessing over it, and to have a long time between the albums is really rare. Five years is a long time to not have an album out.”

Alaina’s anticipated sophomore release, Road Less Traveled, is set to be released on January 27.
