Since appearing on “American Idol” in 2011, Lauren Alaina has accomplished quite a bit. She’s toured with superstars such as Jason Aldean and Sugarland, earned a Top 30 single with “Georgia Peaches,” and wont he title of New Artist of the Year at the American Country Awards. In addition to her country music career, the singer also finished high school, earning her degree from Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe High on May 31.

Now that she’s completed that chapter in her life, Lauren is ready to focus on her music. Her latest single, “Barefoot and Buckwild,” is making its way up the charts and she’s also had at work on her forthcoming sophomore album. With that comes another right of passage for Lauren – moving away from home.

“I’m actually moving to Nashville,” she reveals to Big Frog 104. “I’m 18 and still attached to my mamma’s hip, but if I’m going to take this career seriously and want the things that I want to happen, I gotta be where it is. Everything happens around Nashville so that’s the place I need to be.”

Lauren admits she’s a bit nervous about being away from her parents. “It’s scary but I’m going to do it,” she says. Adding, “I might just have to put my mom and dad in my suitcase.”

Fans can expect Lauren’s sophomore album to hit stores at the end of the year.
