Leona Lewis, Adam Lambert Honor Little Big Town At CMT Artists of the Year

Last night (Dec. 2), CMT honored its Artists of the Year in a ceremony packed with star-power. One of the most powerful performances of the night came from Leona Lewis and Adam Lambert, who joined forces to sing Little Big Town’s No.1 smash, “Girl Crush.”

Unfortunately, only half of the award-winning quartet were present as Jimi Westbrook and Karen Fairchild are mourning the loss of Westbrook’s sister, Joyce. Kimberly Schlapman and Phillip Sweet, accepted the award on behalf of the quartet.

“We’ve been a band for a long time,” Schlapman expressed. “Family has always been most important to us, and tonight, Karen and Jimi’s family are going through some of their very darkest days. Jimi’s sister passed away from cancer three days ago. They’re with their family, and we wouldn’t have it any other way. We so glad they’re there.”

CMT’s Artist of the Year ceremony paid tribute to Little Big Town, Sam Hunt, Luke Bryan, Blake Shelton and Florida Georgia Line live from Nashville’s Schermerhorn Symphony Center. The five artists selected have collectively dominated the country radio charts and CMT platforms.
