Lindsay Ell is sitting pretty at the top of the Nielsen Soundscan Current Country Albums Chart this week as her debut album, The Project, earned the No.1 position after its August 11 release. The album also notched a spot on the all genre album chart, coming in at No. 7 on Nielsen’s Top Current Albums. With this news, Ell becomes only the second solo female to debut at No. 1 with a debut album this year.

Ell became overwhelmed with joy upon hearing the news and took to Twitter to thank her fans for their support.

The Project is the record I’ve wanted to release since I was a little girl, but as an artist, sometimes it takes time to figure out what you want to say and how you want to say it,” she later shared in a press release. “I’m so grateful to my entire team for standing by my side throughout the whole process. Every single fan that has come to my shows, stood in meet and greet lines, and sang songs that they’ve learned through YouTube videos is what keeps me working so hard. Having a No. 1 selling album is incredible and I’m overwhelmed by the support. I’ve finally made a record that’s me, and I’m just happy fans are loving it as much as I do.”

Ell celebrated the release of The Project with a whirlwind week of media appearances and performances, including her debut on NBC’s The Today Show. Fans can catch Ell on the road with Brad Paisley on his Weekend Warrior World Tour throughout the summer.
