Love is no longer the answer for Chris Stapleton in his new single, “Either Way.”

The tale of a love gone stale seems to be weighing heavily on Stapleton’s heart as he soulfully sings about an unrequited relationship gone wrong. Realizing that the spark has become nonexistent on his side of the partnership, the country singer cries for a way out of the broken trap and realizes that his emotions don’t exist anymore when it comes to the woman in question.

Claiming that the numbness surrounding his heart will remain no matter if she stays or goes, Stapleton tugs at the heartstrings of listeners who find themselves relating to the notion of not being attracted to their significant other again. Rather than trying to create an imaginary silver lining to the situation, Stapleton faces the music in the slow song to tell the truth in regard to his lack of feelings toward his worthless relationship.

Separating all aspects of life down to the point of no communication, “Either Way” signifies a cold end to a give-and-take romance that never found the light of day. Stapleton’s raw lyrics may sound like a harsh claim to make, but the gritty wounds of brokenness shine through in his raspy tone.

“Either Way” is the first single to hit country radio off Chris Stapleton’s most recent release, From a Room: Volume 1. The project shot straight to No. 1 on the Billboard Country Albums Chart, with an estimated 218,000 copies sold in its first week out.

Fans of the country singer get a taste at what he’s been working on with the first project to soon be followed up with even more music at a later date with the release of From a Room: Volume 2 later on this year.

From a Room: Volume 1 is available now.
