Little Big Town took the stage on Sunday evening already winners at the 60th GRAMMY Awards when it came time to perform their award winning hit single, “Better Man.” With a backdrop of the New York City skyline and the Empire State Building visible, Little Big Town appeared as if they were singing on the top of a skyscraper in the Big Apple.

Karen Fairchild kicked off the Taylor Swift-penned song softly with her mesmerizing vocals. Standing beside husband Jimi Westbrook on electric guitar, the couple donned black and white ensembles. Meanwhile, Phillip Sweet assisted on acoustic guitar. Spot-on harmonies from Kimberly Schlapman, Sweet and Westbrook further accented the poignant song.

The song, which quickly went No.1 for the quartet, was one that the group fell in love with upon first listen.

“This song, first of all, I love the melody,” said Westbrook previously. “The chorus just kind of soars when it comes in and it feels like one of those classic country melodies on a chorus that we just fell in love from the first time we heard it.”

“The message,” he continued, “I think everybody can identify with the sentiment of this song. A lot of times in life, there’s a lot of things you have to walk away from that don’t necessarily feel like the greatest decision to have to make in your life, but sometimes you just know that it’s time to move on and no matter how hard that is, you just know that down in your heart that it’s time to do that. Those are very difficult decisions that we face sometimes in our lives, and I think this song talks about that beautifully.”

Earlier in the evening, Little Big Town took home the GRAMMY Award for Best Country Duo/Group Performance for “Better Man.” The track was also nominated for Best Country Song.

The 60th GRAMMY Awards air live from New York City’s Madison Square Garden on Jan. 28, 2018 on CBS from 7:30–11 p.m. ET/4:30–8 p.m. PT.
