Nothing compares to the unconditional love and precious joy of bringing a child into the world, but LOCASH singer Chris Lucas doubled the happiness by earning a CMA nomination in the midst of it all.

After his wife gave birth to their third child, Lucas didn’t think things could be any better. Becoming a father to a brand new baby and having everyone safe and in good health, he didn’t even register that the CMA nominations were getting announced when his wife woke him with the good news.

“We didn’t really know. I was in the hospital. My baby was being born. I’m laying on the uncomfortable couch which they have for the dad, which is normal. It’s fine. No problem. I’m not going through what my wife went through. She pops out the baby. I’m sitting there and I wake up in the morning, my wife said, ‘You need to wake up. You need to wake up.’ I’m like, ‘Something wrong with the baby? Something wrong with the baby? Everything alright?’ I just jump up. She’s like, ‘You need to know something.’ I said, ‘What?’ She said, ‘You just got nominated for a CMA,’ he revealed to Sounds Like Nashville.

To put the cherry on top, LOCASH also got the news that their single, “Ring on Every Finger,” just broke through the Top 20. The country duo’s excitement seemed to be unmatched and they plan to continue that into the actual awards show week.

“I just had a baby. To have a nomination—what a week. Are you kidding me? We went Top 20 with our new single, which is officially a country music hit when it goes Top 20. It’s our third single to country music radio. They’ve been so good to us. It’s a really big week for us. You can’t take the smile off our face right now. We kind of feel like we graduated a little bit. It’s humbling,” Lucas said kindly.

The 51st Annual CMA Awards will air live from Nashville on Wednesday, November 8, at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
